What do you do everyday?

Whole process of steel frame design with CAD such as draw a plan and details, and order the materials.
I also work on UT in the factory, and check the real product whether it is precisely assembled following the drawing.

What is difficult and challenging about your job?

One mistake affects to other part of the plan.
I have to be really careful to check the mistakes on the drawing although it isn’t easy to be found.

How have you learnt your job since you joined the company?

Asking other people, and the support desk for the CAD operation.

What do you think working in the diverse environment ?

Sometimes it is difficult to explain details by words.
So I started to think about ways to convey information other than through words,
such as by using diagrams, 3D and pictures.
It also helps when I talk in the factory where is loud and difficult hear what others say.

Once the construction started at site, I sometimes go there as a manager to coordinate our shipped products with the site manager.

Drawing and inspection etc..

What is difficult and challenging about your job?

There are a lot of design changes during the project in this industry in general.
Aligning the design and fabrication is a difficult task while the project is proceeding.

How have you learnt your job since you joined the company?

I reviewed the data from the past projects to learn the architectural details and CAD operation.
Also, I often ask Japanese and foreign employees about what I don’t understand and they teach me well.
About UT, I have been learning on the job following seniors.

What do you think working in the diverse environment ?

Not especially. People talk about the communication difficulties but it can be happened regardless ages and background.
I think the good side is that you don’t have to consume yourself too much by the rules like old Japanese society has.

Any comments for people searching a new job?

I used to work in the architecture office in the big city where had a lot of overwork until the night.
The overwork here is maximum 2hours otherwise I can go home immidiately after finishing the day.
I also move around the factory  to check the products rather working on the desk all day so it’s healthier than before.
It’s worth to consider living in the countryside if you’re thinking to change your job / settele somewhere.
